Pay and Play
Pay & Play – 2008

Our craft hire scheme Pay and Play is available most weekends as listed below. You need to check with the centre before travelling as craft will be subject to availability, but can be pre booked up to a week in advance.

Craft are available at the following session times:
1100 - 1230
1330 - 1500
1530 - 1700

All 3 sessions available for the following dates unless otherwise stated:

Climbing Development Course - Peak District


This exciting two-day course in the UKs birth-place of rock climbing covers an introduction to crag climbing on both Grit and Limestone

Course content:
Site selection
Safe anchoring and belay systems
Completing personal log-book objectives
Group Safety
Climbing history and culture


The course will be led by Chris Pretty (MIA) and Ian Hayward (SPA).

Date: 13/14 September 2008

Cost: £100 including basic "climbing hut" accommodation with dormitory beds and kitchen/shower facilities.

Candidates are to make their own travel arrangements and provide own food.

Climbing Wall Supervisor Award Training
Regional LEA approved course for teachers and youth leaders wishing to supervise groups on indoor and artificial walls. 6 hours training run over two evening sessions or one whole day.

23/30 Oct 08 1800-2100 Eaton vale Activity Centre

BCU/UKCC Level 2 Training Course
The new BCU/UKCC Level 2 training course

18-21 September 2008
Venue: Whitlingham OEC

Cost: £240

Coach: Leo Hoare and Ray Goodwin

Details: A four day course covering training for the new UKCC endorsed level 2 coaching award.

Pre-requisites:
Hold new Level 1 Coaching Award or "old" Level 2 Training; hold "new" or "old" Three Star Award;
First Aid and BCU Registration

Prior to certification coaches must have a recognised Criminal Record Check.

Details: A five day moderated course working towards the Start Instructor Award enabling you to introduce people to the exciting sport of Windsurfing.

Detail: An excellent course aimed at coaches looking to develop their understanding of how people learn and how to adapt coaching styles. An active fun course. This course would be of value to any sports coach not just paddlers.

The centre is situated within Whitlingham Country Park and is non-residential offering a range of outdoor and adventurous activities to young people and adults alike of all abilities.

Staff will be employed on a sessional basis where working hours will be advised on a weekly basis, subject to availability, and paid pro rata. There is no guarantee of work.

You will probably have at least one NGB award in the following:
Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Orienteering, Climbing, Archery, Off road biking. Other NGB awards would be an advantage.
